Charmian Harris Jewellery

Commissions and Alterations

Alterations

Loving and feeling comfortable wearing your jewellery is obviously very important to both us and our customers. If you feel that a piece of Charmian Harris jewellery could fit you better (or suit you better) if it was altered, this may well be possible. We can often adjust existing pieces to make them fit your body better or to alter them if prefer a slightly different look. A simple example of this is ring-sizing. Our fingers can change size at different points in our lives and it may be necessary to send a ring back to us if it no longer fits. Similarly, necklaces can often be made longer or shorter depending on preference.

Commisions

You may have an idea for a particular commission; perhaps a gift for a loved one or a piece that you have been dreaming about for yourself. You may have inherited an item of jewellery which you do not feel very attached to and wish to have the stone(s) or metal(s) re-worked into a new design that is more to your taste.

Wedding rings are mostly commissioned because they are so personal and need a lot of time and thought to ensure they will be comfortable and satisfying for a lifetime. Whatever the commission, it is best to phone or write an email to discuss materials, sizing, pricing and ideas.

Charmian loves the process of working with people to create new and exciting pieces which are loved and adored by their owners.

This ring was commissioned by Sally who asked for a delicious, warm, statement ring that sparkled with diamonds set in rich, plentiful gold. When finished, it weighed in at a total of 30.3g of 22ct gold and Sally was delighted!

“I opened the box and was utterly amazed! There was this sumptuous gold ring with diamonds winking and twinkling at me. It was the exact interpretation of my thoughts that Charmian had made a realty. I was over-the moon

This necklace was commissioned by Marian who wanted a special piece for her daughters wedding. She loved the idea of a rich buttery gold necklace draped in opals but was restricted by the cost. Charmian came up with the idea of combining beautiful translucent green sea glass with dichroic glass which contained the same opalescent qualities as real opals. The metal components were made entirely out of solid 22ct and 18ct gold.

“There was only one person I knew who could create something for me to wear at my daughters wedding, I took my idea to Charmian...
People who admire the necklace often try to guess the materials, no-one has guessed correctly but they admire the ingenuity and skill of the maker.
My surprise upon receiving the box with the jewels inside was knee trembling, there inside was the perfect manifestation of my original request…. gold & opals with translucent green.

Nick and I have just moved into our fabulous newly built home (with 2 independent workshops). Our builder, Simon Porter of Shires Construction has listened to and accommodated our every whim, we are eternally grateful to him.
As a gesture of this appreciation we wanted to give him a memorable gift… but being jewellery-makers we thought it best to direct any practical gesture towards his wife. They had a special anniversary to commemorate and Simon told us that they had a theme of the daisy flower that had followed them through their marriage. We set to work and this is what we produced. I genuinely think they were both delighted!
